Amy Huson-Braun
Amy is the manager and designer of Future Street
Farm. She is a competitive show jumping rider and has been showing
at "A" rated horse shows for more than 15 years. She has
shown hunters and equitation, but has a real passion for the jumpers
and the sport of show jumping. She has much experience riding and
training all over the world including Canada, Europe, Argentina
and the USA.
In the past Amy has worked with trainers Steve
Newell, Gary Henley, Buddy Brown, Jim Dalquist, and Frank Selinger.
She has participated in clinics with Jeff Cook, Buddy Brown, John
Turner, and in Argentina, Jorge Llambí. She enjoys continuing
her own education as a rider and is a dedicated student.
Amy has spent many years studying jumping and dressage
in Europe as a young woman and lived and worked in England, France,
Spain, and Switzerland. She is highly aware of the sport of show
jumping and dressage on an international level. She has shown numerous
times at Spruce Meadows in Canada, the number one show jumping venue
in the world. She has been a spectator many times at the World Cup
and the European Championships. She has a true passion for the sport.
This international experience helped in her design
of Future Street Farm. Having previously designed and built the
location in Sherwood, Oregon in 1999, Amy was well aware of problems
in design and construction of a facility. The facility was designed
to be workable, safe, and comfortable for horse and rider. The well-being
of the horses was of prime concern, therefore details like ample
turn-out for each horse, fire safety precautions, and appropriate
footing in all riding areas was taken into consideration.
Some of the details Amy designed include: a heated
grooming area and tack room helps horses cool down in the warmth
after a cold work-out in the Winter, and a heated viewing area and
bathrooms with showers are nice for riders and their families. A
round-pen with enough room to ride and/ or free-jump horses, a euro-style
horse walker (where horses walk and trot loose) to help horses warm
up and cool down, a large indoor arena with big doors to be opened
up in the summer to have a cool, shady place to ride; or in the
Winter to enjoy the sun; large loafing sheds with attached paddocks
for horses that prefer to live outside, and a large, grassy turn-out
for each horse, so that all the horses on the farm can go outside
every day. The indoor stalls each have Dutch doors that open to
the outside in case of fire so that workers need not to go into
a burning barn to rescue horses. Hot and cold water wash racks with
infra-red lights above help horses relax their muscles after a hard
work out. And a stereo system in the indoor arena to add to the
pleasant atmosphere or to use for clinics and shows.
Amy also enjoys dressage and included this discipline
in her vision for the farm. Future Street Farm offers Dressage training
and lessons. Amy herself has competed in dressage to 3rd Level.
She believes it is elemental in developing supple, responsive jumpers,
and is good for helping to increase the connection that jumper riders
need with their horses. She has participated in many dressage clinics
including Gerd Reuter, Gerhard Politz and Heather Bender, and in
Germany with Jurgen Armbrust.
Please contact Amy
for any questions concerning training, lessons, clinics or shows.
